Brunello di Montalcino - 2015 - Gianni Brunelli - 96/100 punten Parker
Deze Brunello heeft een diep robijnrode kleur, en geeft intense geuren van amarena kersen, wilde aardbeien, noten van bosgrond en tabak. In de mond is de wijn geconcentreerd, mooi gelaagd en heerlijk rood rijp fruit. De afdronk is krachtig en lang aanhoudend met zijdezachte tannines.
De Le Chiuse di Sotto wijngaard is gelegen bij Podernovone op een hoogte van 500 m en met een zuid-westelijke expositie. De wijngaard is aangeplant in 1998, met 4.500 stokken per ha. De grondsoort is kalksteen, zand en witte klei.
De Sangiovese Grosso druiven worden, na een zorgvuldige selectie, eind september handmatig geplukt. De druiven worden in de wijnmakerij zacht geperst en vergist, bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur, voor een periode van rond de 20 dagen. De rijping van de wijn geschiedt voor een periode van 24 maanden in grote Slavonisch eiken vaten van 25hl en 30hl. Hierna wordt de wijn gebotteld. Op de fles verfijnt de wijn verder minimaal voor een periode van 6 maanden in de kelders van het domein.
Deze Brunello, uit het vijf sterren oogstjaar 2015 begint langzaam "op dronk" te komen in 2023, vervolgens kunt u nog volop van deze schitterende Brunello genieten tot 2040. Open de fles minimaal 4 tot 6 uur van te voren of decanteer de wijn. Drinktemperatuur maximaal 18ºC.

The Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto team is on a roll, and these last few vintages have really hit it out of the ballpark. Their latest release, the charming 2015 Brunello di Montalcino, is one of the stars of the vintage. This wine exudes the warmth and sheer exuberance of the growing season, which was beautifully warm and sunny. Yet it also stays true to the promise of Montalcino that strives for elegance, poise and longevity. This is a classic interpretation that offers a very precise and pure window onto the Sangiovese grape, with its tight aromas of wild cherry, medical herb and pressed blue flowers. The wine is a blend of fruit from both sides of Montalcino, the north side and the southeast. Between the two sites you get a mix of schist, sand, clay, tufo and Galestro soil. That's pretty much the whole rainbow from the appellation.

Beautiful intensity, but also focus to the nose of this Brunello. Wild strawberries, tar and cherry kernel vie to be heard above a chorus of forest floor and tobacco. The palate has wonderful compression, herding vibrant cherries and chewy tannins into shape; there’s balance, focus and depth, all in one package. Drink from 2023.
