WINESPECTATOR- TOP 100 2017 - CASANOVA DI NERI - BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2012
Casanova di Neri was purchased by current proprietor Giacomo Neri’s father in 1971. Today, the estate’s 155 acres of vineyards are located mostly east of the town of Montalcino, including Cerretalto, a 12-acre parcel, while the 62-acre Tenuta Nuova lies farther south. Neri’s Tenuta Nuova 2001 was our Wine of the Year in 2006. This year, the Brunello di Montalcino “White Label,” first released in 1978, earns praise for its fruit and floral aromas and vibrant structure. It comes from four different parcels around the winery. The wine is aged 42 months in large casks of 3,600 to 8,600 liters, then an additional six months in bottle.
